A late starter to racing, Mick Benton began in motorsport in 2008 with sprints and hillclimbs around country northern NSW and QLD.
Waiting until he could fund a proper racing assault thanks to establishing his business interests, Benton met with Racer Industries and MARC Cars Australia owner Ryan McLeod about building an Australian Manufacturers Championship car for the Shannons Nationals series. His first full championship campaign began onboard an XE Sports Sedan before moving to the new FG Falcon GT where he took the Australian Production Car Championship Class B win in 2013.
Always a lover of motorsport, Benton became part of the foundation MARC Cars Australia team in 2014 where he travelled the world and raced to three class podium finishes, including a class win at 24H Barcelona.
While Benton enjoys endurance racing for the strategy and tactics, the people he meets and the team he races and travels with, it’s his family that is still the most important thing in his life.
Mick Benton debuted a new MARC Ford Focus V8 (codenamed “Estoril”) at the 2015 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour supported by Castrol and FEDC, and will return to compete at the 2016 Bathurst 12 Hour.
